![]() You page through it with this button right here. Everything else is done virtually through the driver information center. You've got the speedo, the tact, and a fuel gauge. Instrumentation in front of the driver is straightforward on this car. It does not have a gate or paddles to do a manumatic thing on it. In other words, you can move it around to different gear cap levels. Getting the power off that upgraded turbo engine out to the wheels is done by a five-speed transmission, either a five speed manual base or in the case of our car, a five-speed automatic, which was an 850-dollar option. But it also adds speed sensitive volume control. That means 225 watts, more power, seven speakers they added a subwoofer. Our Redline has been bumped up one notch to the Monsoon audio system. ![]() Inside this car, there's a base audio system that is common to both the Redline as well as the basic Sky and that is an AM FM CD player, single slot with an auxiliary input jack and six speakers around the cabin. That's 83 horsepower more than the bigger engine on the base car, quite the engineering accomplishment. Net result, 260 horsepower out of the smaller motor. Instead of a 2 point 4 liter, naturally aspirated motor, this car has a smaller 2 liter, but inner cooled turbo charged motor, 16 valve the same way as the base car, but it also has direct fuel injection. Now the main story on the Saturn Sky Redline over the base Saturn Sky is the engine. The general knows that, and here's the answer. The Red Line version will come with special front and rear styling, high-performance tires, and recalibrated suspension, among other items.> So the basic Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky are just too wimpy for you. A Red Line model will be added later in the model year with a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine rated at a whopping 260 horsepower, more than a 50 percent increase over the standard engine. The Saturn Sky comes standard with 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine. This new rear-drive, four-cylinder platform gave Saturn an opportunity to quickly enter this market segment, the $25,000 open-air car, which includes the Miata and the powerful Honda S2000. The Saturn Sky is built on GM's new Kappa platform shared with the Pontiac Solstice (and Opel GT in Europe). The Sky convertible represents Saturn's first thrust into the sporty end of the spectrum, the Ion Red Line sedan notwithstanding. For customers, that means more choices, one-price, no-haggle car shopping, and one of the best dealer networks in the country. Saturn appears poised to move upmarket into a position above Chevrolet and Pontiac, a long way from where it started. The GM division goes into its 15th year with a vastly expanded lineup of products, including the sporty new Sky, the attractive new Aura sedan, the Relay minivan, the Vue hybrid SUV, the Outlook large SUV, and the Red Line performance models. Model year 2007 will mark the start of a new era at Saturn. It may not have quite the agility of the Mazda Miata, but the Sky is a classic sports car with classic sports car running gear: rear-wheel drive, a fully independent suspension, powerful four-wheel disc brakes, massive low-profile tires, a double overhead-cam engine, and a standard manual gearbox. The folks with the friendly dealers have jumped into the sports car business and the all-new 2007 Saturn Sky is well worth a look for anyone who wants a fun, two-seat cruiser that can drop the top and let the sun shine in.
